Why Yoga with horses?
- Holistic riding creates a deeper connection between body, breath, mind and soul.
- Integrating Yoga into our riding and our time spent with horses enhances awareness, balance and flexibility.
- Breathing in rhythm creates focus and relaxation.
Which leads us towards the goal of union with our horse, the perfect dance,
the two becoming one, moving effortlessly in harmony.
Our "Yoga in Harmony with Horses" Retreats show you ways to develop your consciousness
to create positive changes in your life. Whether you are a novice or expert in Yoga and riding, you can
achieve richer communication and trust with your horse through meditation, visualization, asanas and pranayama.
The rhythmic poses and yoga breathing exercises help you learn how to breathe in rhythm with movement as well as
enhance your awareness.
A sampling of the activites you'll enjoy on this Retreat: awesome food and lodging at the Magellan Inn in Cahuita;
Yoga and meditation with Corinne Aulakh (a RYT 200® Yoga Instructor & Therapist);

I am so glad I finally got in touch with Corinne to begin
sessions in restorative yoga. I appreciate Corinne's careful "study"
of my body--aches, issues, injuries-- and how she chooses stretches and poses
that have me moving without injuring myself further, and don't cause me pain.
She listens carefully, explains in good detail, corrects, adjusts, encourages,
and keeps me moving. To add icing to the cake, her studio is in a beautiful,
peaceful setting, which serves to enhance the whole process of relaxing and letting go.
Oh yes, and I mustn't forget the delicious black raspberries along the path to the studio! :)

Before knowing Corinne, I tried everything you can imagine to be healthy physically
and mentally. I got an injury in my wrists, knee and ankle. Someone recommended Corinne.
After attending regular classes with Corinne I started enjoying the peace and strength
that I started developing. We started private sessions to address my injuries and in
less than 2 months I've felt the difference. I haven't felt any pain in the past weeks
and my body and mind feel stronger.
Corinne really cares about you, she's always paying attention to what you need and she
connects with you really well. She's charismatic, you just want to follow her around
and learn as much as you can of her yoga practice. I just feel great every time I come
out of a class with her.

Being an overweight woman with arthritic knees in her 60's
I'm often turned off by the approach of most yoga teachers. Corinne is
welcoming to everyone and compassionate. She works with each student to
achieve their individual goal to improve wherever they begin their journey.
I always look forward to her class and feel fabulous at the end.
-
I never liked yoga, but since I am receiving yoga classes with Corinne, I really enjoy it.
I breath and feel better after the classes. She takes her time to explain each move and makes
sure that we do it right. This way there is no pain just hard work. Join to our classes,
you will feel the workout.

After having heard about yoga benefits for a while, I decided to give it a try with Corinne.
Called "Yoga for Golf" for my benefit, we did our first class. Whereas I know there is a whole
yoga culture, with specialized language, shapes, smells, stretches, poses, each with it own
wellness story, Corinne makes it very comfortable for the newbie, yet she she can clearly address
the needs and knowledge required by an experienced participant.
The setting is the studio nestled in the rain forest above Escazu, with light breezes, beautiful
forested vistas, and of course, music.
Corine simplifies the yoga mystic to make the experience enjoyable and effective. A far as
"Yoga for Golf," I played with renewed vigor, concentration, and flexibility next time out.

Our family has been doing Yoga with Corinne for a few months now. We have three girls
ages 8, 6, and 3 months. Corinne makes it a great experience for all of us and is
really good at helping the kids have fun and enjoy learning together.
Our time always flies by too fast and we are sad to go when our hour is up.
She works really well
with the kids through telling stories, and the girls know so many animal poses now.
She has also started giving us horseback riding lessons which has also been a real treat.
Thanks Corinne!

I have taken a lot of yoga classes throughout my life and there have been two
teachers that have stood out for me. Corinne is one of those teachers. She has
a very gentle and healing approach to her teaching.
She is very aware of each student's positioning during the postures and takes
into consideration each individual's special needs. I feel very refreshed and
open after her class and highly recommend her as a yoga instructor.

A yoga practice guides us to self-awareness.
The practice of yoga asanas, or postures,
strengthens and tones muscles and connective tissues like ligaments and tendons.
Gentle stretching aids in releasing lactic
acid that builds up in your muscles, relieving fatigue and pain.
Deep breathing, which is an integral part
of practicing yoga, improves lung capacity and promotes relaxation by stimulating
the parasympathetic nervous system and lowers the levels of hormones associated
with anxiety and stress.

Downward facing dog at 2 months and 4 months after having my right hip replaced. Had trouble at 2 months fully extending the right leg and tilting the hips up. At 4 months, I can finally extend my leg and fully tilt the hips up although I am still having some discomfort in the gluts. Yay!
-
Dancer pose at 2 months and 4 months after having my right hip replaced. The back leg is still not fully extended at the hip, although it is an improvement over the 2 month picture.
